Known as Tony.
Attended High Oakham School and worked for Mansfield Shoe Co. He also worked as a chauffeur for Dr Littlewood.
A keen golfer at the age of 15 he won the Caddies Competition at Sherwood Golf Course.

Son of Alfred and Elsie Barker of 3 Rock Street, Mansfield.
Siblings: John (1915), Douglas Alfred (1918) Raymond (1928), Jean (1929), June (1931) and Dilys (1933).
Alfred had served with the Sherwood Foresters in WW1.
Douglas served with the Sherwood Foresters and was successfully evacuated from Dunkirk.

Flew from Swinderby. Crashed near Woburn, after running out of fuel when returning from a raid on Kassel. 2 members of crew survived after baling out.

A Mansfield wireless operative and gunner with the RAF Sgt Thomas Anthony (Tony) aged 20 was killed recently when returning from operations over Germany. Sgt Barker, whose parents live at 3 Rock Street, Mansfield, on leaving High Oakham School was employed by Mansfield Shoe Co and in his spare time took an interest in golf and at the age of 15 he won the Caddies competition at Sherwood Golf Course. Before joining the RAF in May before war was declared he acted as a chauffeur for Dr Littlewood.
He took part in operations in Norway and acheived his present rank 18 months ago.
One of his four brothers, Douglas is serving with the Sherwood Forestersand was one of those successfully evacuated from Dunkirk. His father served in that regiment in the last war.
Two sargeant airgunnersand the chaplin from the squadron (50th) in which Sgt Barker served were present at the funeral service.
On CWGC and IBCC he is known has Thomas Anthony.
On the memorial next to his CWGC headstone he is Thomas Anthony Barker(Tony) and in the Book of Remembrance he is also listed as Thomas Anthony (Tony).
