He was a former Featherweight Champion of the Midlands and was known as "Biff" Cullen.
He also worked as a boxing promoter.

Family history

Son of Edward and Millicent (Millie) Cullen. In 1911 Edward was living with his widowed father at 24 Fairholme Drive, Mansfield.
In 1922 he married Mary E Hunt and they had 4 children, Edward (1924), Dorothy (1926), Cyril (1928) and Joan (1930).
He left Mary £144 11s 5d. in his will.
Mary married Rowland Peach in 1950.

Military history

In 1921 Edward was serving with the Royal Field Artillery based in Newbridge, Co Kildare Ireland.
He was captured at Singapore and held as a Japenese Prisoner Of War. He died of Maleria on 28th of February 1944.
According to his P.O.W card his occupation was as a coal dealer.

Mrs Ellen Cullen of 24 Fairholme Drive Mansfield has been informed that her husband, Driver Edward Cullen is among those missing in Malaya. Boxing under the name of "Biff" Cullen he was a former Featherweight Champion of the Midlands.

Mrs E Cullen of 24 Fairholme Drive, Mansfield has received official notification that her husband, Ted (Biff) Cullen the former boxer and promoter died of maleriaa in Thailand on 28th February 1944.
