In 1921 the family lived at 6 Clarance Street, Pleasley.
In 1939 the family were living at 2 Cardale Raod. Ronald had 3 brothers, Leonard (1910), Leslie (1914) and Kenneth (1922). Leslie and Kenneth also worked in the building trade.
The Sherwood Foresters were based in Tunisia and took part in many of the operations and had numerous casulties, between 24th April to 28th April 1943 the Sherwood Foresters lost 40 men.
