In 1940 Alferd married Beatrix Carrington of 3 Watson Avenue, Mansfield, they had been married less than a year when Alfred died. Beatrix (Trixie) married William Pritchett in 1949, she was 32 and he was 61. William had served with the Sherwood Forester in WW1 and had been a POW for most of 1918.

He was baptised at Scarcliffe Church on 18th April 1915.
