139 Sqdn Blenheim IV N6234 XD-E (https://vgy.me/u/7ahB9u) 10.26 take off from RAF Wyton, Cambridgeshire on armed reconnaissance. N6234 was seen with one engine damaged, Luftwaffe claim by Lt Heinz Lange (1917 – 2006) (https://vgy.me/u/1TfFfo), I/JG21 flying a Messerschmitt Bf109D. At 12.40 N6234 jettisoned its bomb load destroying the bakery of Wilhelm Luken at Meppen, Germany (https://vgy.me/u/KfOdnv). 12.45 crashed between Westerloh and Gross Berssen, Germany, killing all 3 crew. The bodies were first buried in the New Cemetery in Lingen, Germany.

P/O William McCracken - Son of William Gracen McCracken and Lillian McCracken, of St. Kilda, Victoria, Australia. Spec. Memorial. No. 9 REICHSWALD FOREST WAR CEMETERY , believed buried in the cemetery. Headstone not erected till 1997 remains of unidentified aircrew brought in from cemeteries and isolated sites in the surrounding area.
