Son of John and Louise Willis of 22 Victoria Street, Warsop.
In 1931 he married Dorothy Hampson of Kirkby in Ashfield. They had 4 children, John (1933), Beryl (1938),Roy (1941) and Peter (1943).
In 1939 the family were living at Maple Villa, Sutton Road, Kirkby in Ashfield.

Military history

13th Royal Horse Artillery formed in November 1940 and disbanded in January 1947.
15/6/1942 based at Graye Sur Mer, one kilometre back from Juno Beach.
25/6/1944 based at Putot en Bessin west of Caen
28/6/1944 based at Le Haut Du Bosq south of Caen.
Took part in Operation Epsom 26-30th June 1944 also known as the First Battle of the Odon. The objective was to outflank the German forces and seize the occupied city of Caen.

News has been received that Sgt Percy Willis whose wife resides at Sutton Road, Kirkby in Ashfield has been killed whilst serving in Normandy. He has 4 children and had worked at the C.W.S Butchery Dept since leaving school at Burns Lane, Warsop.

He was buried at Tilly-sur-Seulles War Cemetery, France plot IX. J. 5.
