Military history
The unit was based in Tobruk Libya from 1941 and was involved in the defence of Tobruk from Rommell's Afrika Corps.
In May 1942 Rommell attacked Gazala as part of Operation Venice using German and Italian forces. On the 29th May they attacked through the mindfield north of Bir Hakeim.
