9 February 1943 Lancaster R5850 1661 HCU Take off RAF Winthorpe on night training, 21:22 hit telephone wire after over shooting the runway crashed and caught fire.
F/Sgt Melvin Kahn (Kohin) RCAF killed. He was buried at the Jewish Cemetery, Old Road, Wilford Hill, Nottingham. Flight Sergeant Kahn enlisted in the RCAF in August 1941 and took his training at Toronto, Eglinton Hunt Club, and Trenton. He received his wings at Fingal.
