Family history

Ernest Wright was born in 1897 at Sheffield he was the son of Walter an iron moiulder and and Mary Wright nee Drew of 18 Smith Street, Balderton, Newark.

His father Walter was born in 1868 at Haslington, Lancashire, his mother Mary Drew was born in 1877 at Sheffield, they were married on 25th January 1896 at St Thomas's Church, Brightside, Sheffield, they went on to have 7 children, sasdly two were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 18 Smith Street, Balderton, Newark, Walter 43 yrs is an iron moulder, he is living with his wife Mary 34 yrs and their children, Ernest 14 yrs a plaster miller, James 11 yrs a scholar, Elsie 4 yrs and Alfred 4 years f age.

Ernest married Ethel Victoria Staples on 3rd August 1918 at St Bartholomews Church, Sheffield, they lived at 1 Eldon Terrace, Eldon Street, Newark, . she later lived at 90, Meadow St., Sheffield.

Military history

Private Ernet Wright served with the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was shot in the eye and invalided out of service. The wound left him with epilepsy and he died during a seizure at 1 Eldon Terrace, Eldon Street, Newark he is buried at Newark Cemetery.
