Jesse jnr had several siblings, Lillian (1911), Henry (1914) and Olive (1921)
In 1940 he married Lily Emma Brailsford of 287 Southwell Road, Mansfield and they had 2 daughters, Pamela born 1942 and Valerie born in 1943.
Lily married again in 1946, to Arthur Fudge and had a further daughter, Sylvia, in 1949

Military history

The battalion was formed in August 1939. It was posted to North Africa for the Tunisia campaign from the end of 1943 before moving onto Italy. The battalion took part in the battle for Cassino in May 1944, the battle of Arezzo in July 1944 leading to the liberation of the town on the 16th of July and the advance towards Florence along the Arno river in August 1944.
