26/27 March 1942 Wellington Z1291 300 Sqn. Take off RAF Hemswell to bomb Essen, over the target area the aircraft was hit by Flak. On returning to base the rear gunner Sgt Mieczyslaw Slabikowski was found to have been killed by shrapnel.
