22 January 1942 Wellington Z1285 3O1 Sqn took off from RAF Hemswell for Munster at 17:55hrs. Reported shot down by night fighter off the Lincolnshire coast, no Luftwaffe intruder activity near the UK and no Luftwaffe claim further into the North Sea than 40km West of Terschelling, possible friendly fire incident.

Three bodies were later washed ashore and buried in Newark Cemetery. The
three remaining crew are commemorated on the Polish War Memorial RAF Northolt.

P/O Waclaw Reda, body recovered 30/1/1942 Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire, cause of death by drowning, buried 2/2/42 Newark cemetery.
