Family history

Son of three times mayor of Boguszyce, Franciszek Sztuba, a farmer, and Weronika née Kordylewicz. His Baptism, took place in the church of St. Nicholas in Sadlno on 10/12/1916, it was given by Fr. Joseph Pelczynski.

The godparents were Józef Augustyniak, a farmer from Zakrzewek, and Anna Paczkowska from Lichen, a teacher at Zakrzewo. He had four siblings Leon, Mikolaj, Salomea and Helena.

Military history

Joined the Polish Air Force in December 1938, serving with the 41st Reconnaissance Squadron.

After the defeat of Poland he evacuated to France via Romania, then onto Great Britain. Arrived at RAF Padgate 14/10/1940 then joined 301 Sqn 29/12/1941.

RAF Hemswell LAC Stanislaw Sztuba 301 Sqn killed when an aircraft tyre he was working on burst. He was thrown with such force the base of his skull was fractured and he suffered cerebral lacerations.
