Died at Nottingham General Hospital after being hit by a car as he walked over Gunthorpe Bridge.

21.15 struck from the rear by a car driven by William George Shipley of Thomas Avenue, Radcliffe on Trent. Died early the following morning from a fracture of the skull. At the inquest another Pole stated 3 of them had been at the inn for an hour and had each had a Whiskey, 2 glasses of Port and 3 or 4 glasses of Beer, before heading back to base.

Inquest held 24/9/1941, verdict accident.
