Military history

11.18 Halifax W7661 collided with Oxford V4140 near Middleton St.George Darlington. All on board both aircraft were killed in the resulting crashes. W7661 was on a training flight at 2000ft just below cloud base when V4140 exited the cloud on a converging course. V4140 tried to dive under the bomber but its tail stuck the Halifax and both aircraft spun into the ground.
