Family history
He was the son of George and Mary Armitage, of Low House, Slaley, Hexham, Northumberland. In 1900, he and Clara Elizabeth Mather were married at Nottingham. They lived with Clara's mother Charlotte Mather at 19, Baker Street in 1901 and at 20, Milton Street (both Nottingham) in 1911. John and Clara moved to 34, Loughborough Road, West Bridgford where they died on May 9th 1941.
