He was the son of Walter and Elizabeth Benskin and the brother of Herbert, John, Ethel, Annie and Arrhur Benskin. They were from Ruddington, living on Back Street in 1891 and Wilford Road in 1911 and 1921. William Benskin shared accommodation with his brother Arthur at 76, Wilford Road, Nottingham in 1939.
