Frederick George (b. 13 July 1880) was baptised at Nottingham (Meadows) Our Lady & St Patrick on 25 July 1880; his sister Ada had also been baptised at the same church on 28 December 1878.
Their parents were married in 1875 and their father, a master grocer, later had a bakery at 201 St Ann's Well Road, which was also the family home. Several of his children worked in the business including Frederick who in 1901 was described as a baker and confectioner, and in 1911 as 'assisting in business'.
Frederick married Minnie Hendrey in 1916 (OND). There is a church record that they had intended to marry at Emmanuel Church on 24 December (Frederick a baker and Minnie a machinist, both of The Chase) but the (incomplete) licence was struck through with an explanatory note by the vicar that the parties had not attended church. In 1921 Frederick and Minnie were living at 79 Union Road, Nottingham; Frederick, a baker, was still employed in his father's bakery at 201 St Ann's Well Road.
Minnie died in 1929 aged 45 and Frederick married secondly Rose E [Edith] Tasker in 1932. He and Edith were recorded on the 1939 England & Wales Register at 16 Dowson Street, Bluebell Hill Road, St Ann’s, Nottingham. Frederick's occupation was given as 'bread baker' (Co-op Bakery) and his wife was a domestic at the YMCA in Nottingham.
Frederick was killed in an air raid on Nottingham on 8 May 1941 while at work at the Co-op Bakery, Meadow Lane, Nottingham.
Frederick's brother, 3823 Private Percy Bernard, 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters, served in France from 11 November 1914, He died in Manchester Hospital on 21 August 1915 from wounds received in action and was buried in Nottingham General Cemetery.
