Family history
Benjamin Willis Smith was the son of Walter Willis Smith and Annie Smith and the brother of Vernon, Olive, Irene and Kenneth Smith. In 1911, the family home was at 28, Curzon Avenue, Carlton but, by 1921, they had re-located to 129, Windmill Lane Sneinton (both Nottingham). Benjamin married Ethel Fox in 1937 and they lived at 103, Parkdale Road, Bakersfield, Nottingham along with their four children – Marlene, Gordon, Avril and Josephine.
