John Joseph Addis
John Joseph Addis was a baker/confectioner who wroked at the Co - Operative Bakery on Meadow Lane, Nottingham
Volunteer First Aid Party member. Air Raid Precautions Service.
He would have been at the bakery working as normal during his night shift. When the air raid began, he would have taken shelter with other workers in the basement air raid shelter, but he would now be acting in his role as a "voluntary First Aid Party member with the Air Raid Precautions Service. He would only have performed this role at the Co Op as this was the organisation that had recruited and provided the equipment for the various elements of the ARP at their works. E.g. Air Raid Wardens, first aiders and also the Home Guard unit that was recruited and based there.
