Military history

During early April 1945, the 2nd Battalion was heavily engaged in rapid offensive operations in central Burma, breaking through Japanese lines following the major battles at Meiktila and advancing south toward Rangoon. Because Private Boff has no known grave from these intense jungle and cross-country operations, he is commemorated on the Rangoon Memorial in Myanmar (Panel 24). This memorial honours over 26,000 casualties of the land forces who died during the Burma Campaign and have no marked resting place.
