Military history

Halifax III MZ907 took off 0753 25 Mar 1945 from East Moor to bomb Munster. Outbound hit by Flak and abandoned crashing near Wulfen a small town 7 km NNW of Dorsten. Five fatalities: Lowe (FE) + JR McCollom (P), RA Paul (AB), JM Jones (AG), LW Brennan (AG). Two crewmen survived to become POWs: RH Ayelsworth (N), AN Knight (W/Op).

175 aircraft took part in this raid - 151 Halifaxes, 14 Lancasters, 10 Mosquitoes. Large number of bombs with two people killed. 3 Halifaxes lost.
