Lancaster I NG492 took off 1714 16 Mar 1945 from Elsham Wolds. all are buried in Dwurnbach War Cemetery. No survivors. Fatalities: Wilkinson (AG), AL Stepharnoff (P), J Grant (FE), RI Parks (N), HK Scott W/Op), A Davies (AB),W Whitehead (AG).

According to their ORB for March 1945 (TNA Air27 817/6) '15 aircraft were detailed (from 103 Sqdn) for this operation. All took off safely in good weather... and some searchlight activity and a large number of fighters were seen to go down.'good results as fires observed... light flak barrage and some searchlight activity and a large number of fighters were seen to go down.'

This was the last heavy bomber raid on Nuremburg which killed 529 civilians. 231 bombers attacked Nuremberg that night with 8.7% of the bomber force lost. The main railway station was hit and the city's gas works so badly damaged it did not resume production before the end of the war.
