Gloucestershire Regiment 10th Bn. crossed the Irrawaddy River and came under the command of the Fourteenth Army. They were involved yet again in extremely fierce fighting that led to the final operation that broke the last Japanese resistance in Burma. KIA at the Battle of Mandalay fighting against the Japanese 15th Division and units of the collaborationist Burma National Army and Indian National Army. Buried organally at Mandalay War cemetery.
