Kay was the Second pilot of Lancaster I NN708 which took off 2031 2 Feb 1945 from Methwold to bomb Wiesbaden one of 495 Lancasters (and 12 Mosquitoes) to carry out Bomber Command's only raid on this target.520 houses and 30 other buildings were destroyed. The railway station was damaged although several important war industrial sites along the Rhine were untouched. Approximately 1,000 people were killed on the ground and 350 injured.

Cause of loss not established. There were five fatalities: Kay (2nd P) + LE Button (P), JC Botting (FE), PH Wales (W/Op), CS Bowers (AG). Three men survived to become POWs: FR Bryant (AG), FMG Harrison (AB) H Omerod (N).
