In 1921 Thomas and Bertha and their 3 oldest children were living in Creswell, Derbyshire. Thomas was a miner employed at Creswell Colliery but was currently out of work. The census was taken during the time of the Miner's Strike so Thomas may well have been on strike.
In 1942 he married Kathleen Dickinson of Blyton, Lincolnshire and they possible had one child, William Kenneth born in 1943.

Military history

367 bty 42 (7th bn Sherwood Foresters) Searchlight Regiment was a Territorial Army Anti Aircraft unit. They were mobilised on 23rd September 1938 during the Munich Crisis but were stood down 3 weeks later on 13th October. However due to the increasing tensions they were partially mobolised in June 1939 rotating around the AA and Searchlight positions under the command of the new Anti-Aircraft Command and on the 24th August they were fully mobolised.
