Son of James Richard and Christina Bramley, of 46 Duke Street, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

Ernest married Ethel Emberson in 1939 and their daughter,Jean, was born on 22nd August 1939 but she had died by the end of the year. They had a son, Ernest born in 1942.
Ethel remarried in 1946 to Nelson Powell.

Mansfield Chronicle Advertiser: 12/10/1944: Killed in Action
Mrs Bramley of 26 Bradder Street, Mansfield has received the news that her husband, Pte Ernest Bramley was killed in action in Italy on September 6th. Twenty six years of age he sreved in the Sherwood Foresters and leaves a widow and one child. Mr Bramley has 4 brothers serving in the forces.

The 14th Bn had taken part in the landings at Anzio and in September where engaged in the operations in the Coriano area. The battalion was so badly depleted by their losses in Italy that it was reduced to a cadre and then disbanded.

Extra information

Ernest's cousin, ( on his mother's side) Edward William McKay was killed in Italy on the 30th August 1944 fighting with the Leicester Regiment.
