Son of Thomas and Teresa Lyons of 7 Prospect Street, Mansfield.
Siblings: Eric born in 1921 and Bernice born in 1924.
Thomas, as well as working for the council was also an ARP warden.
In 1940 Eric married Kathleen Mary Kingstone of 19 St margaret's Street, Mansfield, she worked in a shoe factory. Their son David was born in 1943.
In 1962 Kathleen married Donald Orbell
52nd (Bedfordshire Yeomanry) Heavy Regiment Royal Artillery was formed on 1st November 1939 and was sent to France as part of the B.E.F. It was disbanded after Dunkirk but re-raised on 11th March 1943. From June 1944 they were part of 5th AGRA (Army Group Royal Artillery) and took part in the North West Europe Campaign.
William died the day after his 30th birthday.
