Family history

He was the son of Harold Henshall Stalvies and Charlotte Stalvies and brother to Eric, Roy and Grace Stalvies. In 1921, they lived at 88, Exeter Road, Wiverton Road, Sherwood Rise, Nottingham.

Military history

Halifax V EB190 took off from Sandtoft, Lincolnshire for night circuit pratice. Two minutes later, the aircraft dived from 400 feet and crashed just inside the boder with Yorkshire, 5 miles north east of Doncaster where the crew were rushed (Royal Infirmary). Six crew members died. Sgt Eric George Woodward made a good recovery from his injuries, resumed training but was killed 10/10/44 when another Halifax crashed also on a night exercise.

EB 190's fatalities: Stalvies (navigator) + Allen Lenard Cheatle, Sinclair MacKay Laird, John Gerard McLeod, Anthony Miles Salter & Dennis George Edward Wilkins.
