He was the son of Ernest and Mary Williams and brother of Hannah Williams of 10, Bridge Place, Worksop, Nottinghamshire.

Military history

He was an air gunner aboard Halifax III MZ591 which took off 2217 28 June 1944 from East Moor to bomb the rail yards. Shot down by a night fighter crashing at Chevrieres (Oise) 18 km NE of Creil where those killed are buried in the town's Communal Cemetery. Six fatalities: Williams + W Fernyhough, J Hembry, HJ Kennedy, JV Musser, R McEwan. 1 POW: PB Woolfenden. (rafcommands.com) Most of Williams's crewmates were Canadian.
