Family history

He was the son of Alfred Henry and Louise Green and the husband of Mabel Mary Green of Wollaton, Nottingham. George Green was a memeber of Players' boxing club. HIs brother Corporal Harry Green served with George Green until April 1943 when he was wounded at Enfidaville. Pre-war, both men played for Old Lentonians football club.

Military history

George Green was killed in the north European theatre having previously served in Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Crete (where he was Mentioned in Despatches) and from El Alamein to Tunisia. Source: Nottingham Evening Post 17/7/1944 p.4
