Kathleen was the 3rd daughter of Norman Albert Edward Jackson and Elizabeth Jackson née Kelly. Norman was born in 1888 at Shardlow and Elizabeth was born 23 March 1892 and baptised on July 12th in the same year at Derby. Norman and Elizabeth were married at Derby Register Office in 1910. In 1911, the family was living at Sheffield.
Norman and Elizabeth had the following children:
Irene – b 1911
Alice – b 1913
Norman Albert Edward – b 1915
Kathleen – b 1916
The marriage of Norman and Elizabeth had failed by the 1921 Census with the family returning to Derby but living at separate addresses. Norman the elder died in 1930 at Derby. In the 1939 Register Elizabeth had moved to Sutton-in-Ashfield but none of her children were down as living with her. Elizabeth died in 1960 and is buried with her daughter.

According to newspaper obituary, Kathleen joined up in 1942. At time of incident was working in No1 War Office Signals Dept.
