Siblings: Thomas (1913) and Florence (1917) were born in Mansfield and Violet born in Goldthorpe in 1920. His mother Lavina was also born in Mansfield.
In 1921 the family where living in Goldthorpe.

Took off from Elsham Wolds for a raid over Dortmund. They were shot down on the return journey and crashed at Hiddingsel, near Munster.

Mansfield Chronicle Advertiser: 12/10/1944. Death of Flying Officer.
Mr & Mrs A Hallows of 48 Princes St, Mansfield have received official confirmation this week that their youngest son, Flying Officer George Hallows, lost his life on operational duties May 22/23 May and was buried at Hiddingsel, Germany the next day. Before volunteering for the RAF Flying Officer Hallows was in the employ of the Air Ministry Meteorological Service .
He gained his commission in Canada and was presented with a gold and silver identity bracelet being an honorary student. He was educated at Wath upon Derne Grammar School.

After the war many of the airmen buried in small local cemeteries were re-interred at Reichswald Forest War Cemetery near the Dutch border.
