He was the flight engineer aboard Lancaster III JB488 which took off 1957 21 Jan 1944 from Wyton. Shot down by a night-fighter from 19000 feet and crashed in the vicinity of Stendal. Six fatalities. Richardson + AF Abbott, JCH Davies, TW Edwards, HF Smith, AE Watkins. Two POWs: GMD Breaden, JW Houston
