Royal Naval Patrol Service:
HMS President 111 was a shore establishment based at Bristol and was the nominal posting for all Naval personnel serving in the Defensively Equipped Marchant ships, such as trawlers and cargo ships converted for war service. They were often used as escort vessels to protect convoys. Eric may have been on the MV Indian Prince which was sunk by German Aircraft off Oran, Algeria which when it was escorting convoy KMS 31.
