Lancaster III ED881 took off 1738 20 Oct 1943 from Elsham Wolds to bomb Leipzig. Lost without trace. 8 Fatalities: Sykes + WG Cane, L Cross, JC McLean, JP Neville, AH Pargeter, HE Thompson, EH Wilcockson.

358 Lancasters attacked Leipzig in the first serious attack on this distant German city. 16 were lost. Weather conditions were 'appalling' according to Bomber Command records.
