74 Sqdn ORB (Air27-642-8 74 Sqdn September 1943Record of Events) 'On way back to Nicosia developed engine trouble 15 miles ENE of Castelrosso. Baled out but too low. Parachute failed to open.'

'the formation was flying below 500 feet. He (Anderson) had great difficulty getting out of his aircraft.. A high spped launch from Castelrosso and ASR aircraft from Cyprus made several fruitless searches' (Air27-642-7 74 Sqdn September 1943 Summary of Events).
