He was the grandson of William and Ruth Green and the nephew of Thomas, Ellis and Alfred Green. William and Ruth's daughter Lois Maud Green married Patrick James Moore in 1920 and George William was born the same year. They all lived together in 1921 at 39, Bleak Hall, Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. George William was the brother of Ruth A, Grace and Harry Moore and, in 1939, they lived at 17, Mexboro Road, Selston, Nottinghamshire with their parents Patrick and Lois Moore.
