After attending Leys School in Cambridge from 1929 he studied law at Jesus College, University of Cambridge where he obtained his BA & LL. B (CANTAB). He took up a post at
R Willetts Solicitors in Nottingham and passed his law examination on 23rd June 1937. He passed with honours.

Son of George William and Janet Briggs, of "Broxtowe", High Oakham Road, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire . George William died in 1936.
He had one sister, Janet. He left £10708 2s 5d to his widowed mother and married sister, Janet Davidson.

Lieu E D Briggs, Sherwood Foresters son of Mrs j Briggs and the late Mr G W Briggs of "Broxtowe" Mansfield. Who was previously reported missing has now been officially recorded as killed in active service in North Africa on 24th April 1943.

Has he is recorded on the Medjez El Bab Memorial and has no known grave his body was never found.
