Lived at 38 Georgina Rd., Beeston [e.1939 & w.1943]. Son of Edward William & Annie Hopkins, of 69 City Rd. [e.1939 & 45]; husband of Nellie Irene Hopkins (née Fearn) [Basford.m.1938], of 38 Georgina Rd. [e.1939 & 45]. His widow married Louis Henry Bacon

Interred El Alamein War Cemetery.
Killed in action during the battle of El Alamein.
His battalion served as Motorised Infantry during the Battle of El Alamein, following behind the tanks in canvas covered lorries with the task of engaging with enemy infantry once they got close enough to move on foot. Many of the lorries suffered direct hits from German anti tank guns while they were moving forward. His name is included on the Roll of Honour at Long Eaton Town Hall.
