Son of Charles and Lucy Hawkins, of 9 St mark's Terrace, MansfieldMarried Winifred Annie Hollingworth of 62 Westfield lane, Mansfield in 1941 and their daughter, Pamela, was born in 1941. Winifred also worked inthe hosiery trade as a half-hose operator.

Crashed on take-off from Bircham Newton, hitting a building. They were part of Coastal Command and Fleet Air Arm. Possibly on a weather information gathering mission.

Sgt Ronald Charles Hawkins whose home was at 9 St mark's Terrace, Mansfield was killed in a crash on Sunday morning. Sgt Hawkins had taken his stripes as a wireless operator in the RAF in which he had served for 2 years. Previous to joining the RAF he was in the employ of Messrs Foster, Clay and Ward, Newgate Lane, where he was greatly liked and respected. He leaves a wife and a little daughter. The funeral ceremony is to-day (Thursday) at St Mark's
