Military history

Joined the RAF on a Short Service Commision.
Posted to 3F lying Training School at South Cerney on the 21st August 1937.
He joined the staff at the School of Naval Co-operation at Ford on the 26th March 1938.
He was serving with 25 Squadron RAF on the outbreak of World War Two, he remained with them throughout the Battle of Britain.
He was promoted to Temporary Squadron Leader with 118 Squadron RAF.
He was reported missing on the 9th May 1942 whilst flying Spitfire Mark Vb, Serial Number : BL264 on Operation Circus 168 over St. Omer, his uninjured body was found floating in a dinghy some 8 miles South of Dungeness four days later on the 13th May 1942, it must be assumed that he died fromexposure.
His Funeral took place on the 19th May 1942.
