Family history
He was the son of William and Alice Mary Ashmore, of Sutton, Retford, Nottinghamshire.
On the same day that Mr. and Mrs. Ashmore received the sad news, a greetings telegram arrived from their son. It was addressed to his eldest sister (Florrie), and wished her a very happy Christmas and a bright New Year. The message was dated 20th December.
Military history
Ashmore served with the Leicestershire Regiment in India. He died of wounds received in action in the Middle East.
