Family history

Thomas Steer was the son of Thomas and Florence Steer and the brother of Sabina, Mary, Frank and Albert Steer. In 1921, the family home was at 9, Harold Hill, Sherwin Street, Lenton, Nottingham. By 1939, they had moved to 22, Livingstone Terrace, Bunbury Street, Meadows, Nottingham.

During the last quarter of 1940, Thomas Steer and Doreen Sketcher were married at Nottingham and their daughter Barbara was born in 1941. In 1939, Doreen lived with her parents Herbert and Ethel Sketcher at 38, Knowle Road, Russell Drive, Wollaton, Nottingham and she apparently lived there after the war.

Military history

He was a Driver MT in transit aboard HMT Franconia as part of Draft 19 originating from RAF Padgate via Liverpool became ill at sea and died of natural causes. He was buried at sea but due to the situation of his death and the time scale involved no cause could be determined to account for his death which was registered as " Natural Causes " only.
