News was received late last night (Wednesday) by Mr and Mrs P Phillips of 26 Little Carter Lane, Mansfield of the death of their son, Sgt Percy Hugh Phillips aged 27 while serving with the Pioneer Corps. Before joining up 16 months ago Sgt Phillips was a member of the A.F.S. He was not married.

The interment with Military Honours of Sgt Percy Hugh Phillips aged27 of the Pioneer Corps whose death was reported in last weeks issue took place on Monday in Mansfield Cemetery following a service at St Lawrence's Church.
The inquest of the deceased was held Thursday last week at Liverpool when the verdict of accidental death was brought in.
Sgt Phillips. whose parents reside at 26 Little Carter Lane, received his early education at High Oakham School being one of the first scholars to attend there. He then followed his father in his trade as a painter and decorator. He served 14 months in Ireland but returned to England due to his ill-health.
