He was the husband of Lilian (née Calladine) Scarborough and the father of Royston Scarborough. In 1939, they lived at 'Clovelly', 187, Nottingham Road, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire.
Because he was buried locally in his home region rather than overseas, it is highly likely that he died while serving on the Home Front, potentially from injuries sustained during the intensive Blitz air raids or an accident while carrying out his company's logistical duties in May 1941.
