Military history

Enlisted 20th July 1940.
Air Gunner in Defiant 1, T3855 of 256th Squadron based at RAF Squires Gate, Blackpool, Lancashire. Squires Gate was the home of a large Vickers Aircraft factory and 256 sqdn was based there to protect the factory and nearby Liverpool Docks.
The aircraft crashed after the pilot, Peter John Taylor, lost control in bad weather. They both baled but they were too low for their parachutes to deploy.
