the aircraft was returning from Hamburg, whilst circling Oakington it was attacked by a lone Junkers Ju88, the Pilot took avoiding action and dropped low but hit a tree on approach to Dry Drayton C, Eric Barratt died 24 hours after the aircraft crashed.
The rest of the aircraf's crew were also killed.
