News of the death of 19 years old Leading Aircraftman Arthur Anthony Hicks of 23 pickard Street, Mnasfield has been conveyed to his home recently by telegram received only a week after a message announcing his safe arrival in the Middle East. His death is stated to be due to bronchial pneumonia. He had been serving in the RAF for 2 years. He was a member of St Lawrence Church Choir and the Boy Scouts.

Only 16 days later, Tony's brother Joseph Thomas Leslie was killed on 30th April 1941.
