Military history

Died : 21st November 1940from his injuries resulting from a road traffic collision between his military motorcycle and a saloon car driven by a Lieutenant Colonel, Groves-Raines of Ardview, Killinchy, the collision took place on the comber side of Lisbane Post Office in Northern Ireland, both of his arms and legs were broken, one leg was so badly shattered that it had to be amputated at Ards District Hospital.
He initially seemed to be recovering well but died from a Pulmonary Embolism resulting from multiple injuries.
His death was reported in Casualty List No. 368, dated 23rd November 1940, it was also reported int he County Down Spectator but his surname was incorrectly recorded as Gill.
